Eric Dubrowski, CMA - President
Eric Dubrowski was appointed Chief Financial Officer for Peoria County, Illinois in January 2011. Prior to joining Peoria County, Eric served as the Finance Director / Treasurer for the Village of Villa Park, Illinois. While at Villa Park, Eric also served as its Administrative Officer and spent time as the Acting Village Manager. Eric has also worked for the City of Galena, Illinois and the City of Elmhurst, Illinois.
Eric is a Certified Management Accountant and earned his Bachelor's Degree in Economics from the University of Illinois at Chicago and his Master's Degree in Public Administration from Northern Illinois University. Eric also spent four years as an adjunct faculty member at Elmhurst College teaching governmental accounting in the Master of Professional Accountancy program.
Eric was named as the President of the Central Illinois Chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants for 2012-2013, having earlier served as its Vice President of Membership in 2011-2012. Eric was previously an active member of the resurrected Chicago Chapter of the IMA. Eric also serves on the Executive Board of the Downstate Chapter of the Illinois Government Finance Officer's Association.
Ruth Bittner, CMA, CPA - VP Member Relations
Ruth Bittner joined IMA in 1986. She has held board positions in the Omaha, Calumet and Illowa chapters and the MidAmerica Council. She is a past president of the Calumet Chapter.
A native of Peoria, she graduated with a BA in Economics and Western European Studies from Grinnell College and an MA in Accounting from the University of Iowa. She has served as an accountant, controller, and CFO at a wholesale grocer, three community colleges and a private university. Along the way she has also worked as an adjunct Accounting instructor. She is currently the Director of Finance, Human Resources, and IT at The Peoria Riverfront Museum.
Elliot Kammeyer, CMA, CPA - VP of Communications
Elliot became an IMA member in 2004 and joined the Board of Directors in the summer of 2004 as a Student member fulfilling the role of Chapter Secretary. Since then he has maintained an active role in Chapter Governance and was nominated and approved to be President in the Spring of 2008 and served through June of 2011, and has been the VP of Communications for the Chapter since his tenure as President ended. From 2016-2018 he serves on the IMA Global Board of Directors as a member of the Planning & Development Committee. He works for Caterpillar, Inc. as a Senior Accounting Supervisor. He holds a Bachelors and Masters of Accountancy from Illinois State University (2006), is a CMA and a Registered CPA.
Don Shippy, CMA, CFM, CPA - Treasurer
Don Shippy joined IMA (then named the National Association of Accountants) in 1984. He has been the Treasurer for the Central Illinois Chapter since July of 2004. He has held other board positions at the Central Illinois Chapter and at the Rockford Illinois Chapter.
He graduated with a B.S. in Accountancy from Northern Illinois University in 1984. He passed the CPA exam in 1984, the CMA exam in 1985, and the CFM exam in 2002. He is currently the Director of Finance at The Lifeguard Store based in Normal, Illinois. Dr. Jomo Sankara
, ACMA, CGMA - Director of Academic Research & University Relations
Jomo Sankara has been an associate member of the U.K.’s Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (ACMA) since 2001. He became a member of the IMA in 2014 and has also been a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) since 2012. He has over 14 years management accounting experience in the U.K.
Jomo is currently an assistant professor of accounting at Illinois State University. He teaches Cost Accounting as well as the Management Accounting MBA course. His main research interests include monitoring and control of earnings management in companies, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) disclosures and monitoring.
